The most dependable beach break in Northumberland, and with the castle behind you, probably the most scenic in England. The long, gently shelving beach picks up northerly swell well and often runs a foot or two bigger than the Tyneside beaches. Banks move, so walk the beach before you choose a peak, but the sandbar off The Wynding is usually the reliable one. On the right swell the rocks at the north end can offer a left.
