NNorth East Surfing

Saltburn

Surf Spot

Description

One of the first places on England's east coast to take up surfing, and still one of its busiest surf towns. The waves are generally mellow, which makes Saltburn the best place in Tees Bay to learn, but the peaks either side of the Victorian pier can shape up well on a good swell. Just south, Penny Hole breaks over sand and cobbles with lefts and rights. **local businesses (verify current):** Saltburn Surf School (teaching here since 1983).
