Tynemouth Longsands

Surf Spot

Description

The heart of North East surfing. Longsands is the region's busiest break, and its surf shops, schools and café culture have made Tynemouth one of the UK's best-known surf towns. The beach break works on a north or north-easterly groundswell with a westerly wind, and on its day it hosts contests and draws surfers from across the North. When it's small and clean, it's the best place in the region to learn. **local businesses (verify current):** Tynemouth Surf Co (shop, hire, lessons), Longsands Surf School.
